








AMI School Administrator Course
Are you in search of a comprehensive administrators training to support and deepen your understanding of school leadership within a Montessori context?
The course content is delivered using a mixture of interactive presentations, small and large group work, observations in schools, discussion and videos and is contextualised for the country and interests and needs of the group.
No prerequisites or qualifications are necessary – ALL ARE WELCOME!

The Trainers
Christine has been involved in Montessori education since 1985 and was Principal of the Canberra Montessori School, one of the largest Montessori schools in Australia, for over 20 years. As well as educational leadership, Christine has a background in mediation, mentoring, conflict management and adult education with an emphasis on empowering individuals and building good communication skills. She was the founding President of Montessori Australia and for the last 10 years has been a senior consultant working with Montessori schools with a particular emphasis on mentoring and guiding independent and public schools, government liaison and quality assurance.
Christine has trained, coached and mentored mediators during her time as Executive Director with the Conflict Resolution Service in Canberra, and more recently has presented workshops for Montessori teachers and leaders on people skills, mentoring and communication and co-developed and presented the AMI Administrators Certificate Course in several cities in China, in Thailand and Paris. She has presented at Montessori conferences in Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, China and the USA.
Bill has been Principal of Montessori East since 2007. His background includes classroom teaching, guidance counselling and principalships in schools in the US, Colombia, New Zealand and Australia. His experience in Montessori began when he was 18 when he started his training as a Montessori teacher, however did not complete it. His education career took him to mainstream schools before 'coming home' to Montessori East to serve as its first full time principal.
Cathy Swan has been an Educator since 1976 and holds a BA in English, a BA in Psychology and Teacher Certification, an AMI Primary Teacher diploma and a Masters of Education. In 2004 Cathy obtained AMI Auxiliary Primary Teacher Trainer status. Cathy has held positions as a School Director with Head Start, as a Primary Montessori teacher in classrooms of children ages 3 to 6 years, as a Course Assistant at the Montessori Institute Northwest while serving as the Administrator, as an Adjunct Professor of Early Childhood Education at Portland Community College, as a Parenting Skills Instructor for Kaiser Permanente, as a Board member (and Chair) of several Montessori schools, and as a Consultant for teachers and administrators throughout the US, Australia, Thailand and China. Cathy has a total of 22 years in the classroom and 17 years in administration. She has served as Head of School at the Montessori School of Lake Forest on the north shore of Chicago, as the Head of School of Inner Sydney Montessori School in Sydney, Australia, and is currently Head of School of MSB in Portland, Oregon.
